Ministry
Formation of the Roman Catholic Diocese
of Albany was established in 1984 for the
holistic formation of the laity in
preparation for pastoral ministries within a
parish/cluster structure. The Formation for
Ministry Program is made up of academic,
personal, social, pastoral and spiritual
components.
The
design of the Formation for Ministry Program
is rooted in several principles, a
fundamental vision that guide the program
decisions.
-
Theology
is critical reflection upon the
historical situation.
-
Ministers
must be called forth, supported,
challenged and affirmed in community.
-
The
Church is in, of and for the world.
Therefore, justice must be an active
principle in the lives of the People of
God.
-
There
is an equality among all the
ministries/ministers. There is an
hierarchy of order but not of value in
ministry in the Church.
-
There
is critical need today for spirituality
among the People of God, which is
holistic and integrative.
