Welcome to the Office of Prayer and Worship for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. The ministry of this department includes preparing for and coordinating the Bishop’s diocesan liturgies like the Rite of Election, the Chrism Mass and ordinations. We also serve as an information resource for parishes and individuals in the vast area of worship: responding to questions on liturgical seasons, sacramental celebrations, liturgical practice and history, music for liturgy and Catholic prayer and spirituality. In the area of formation, we offer presentations, workshops, training programs and a bi-monthly newsletter.
Those who serve in this ministry are myself, as director, Wm. Glenn Osborne, music director for the cathedral and Maryann Postava-Davignon, the office secretary. Working, as volunteers are the members of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission who assist in developing policies and formation events. Approximately thirty members of five sub-committees assist them. The Commission members each chair a sub-committee: Christian Initiation, Mrs. Linda Faduski; Environment and Art, Rev. Gary Gelfenbein; Liturgy, Rev. Jerry Gingras; Music, Mr. Glenn Osborne, Prayer and Spirituality, Mrs. Patricia Mousaw. Rev. Jerry Gingras is the chair of the Commission.
Other elements of the ministry of this office are the on-going development of a diocesan choir, maintaining a reference / lending library and liturgical preparation and coordination of Table of the Lord, our weekly televised Mass.
