St. Kateri Tekakwitha Pastor to Hear Confessions for 24 Hours Straight

Responding to Pope Francis’ call for Twenty-four Hours for the Lord, St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Schenectady and Niskayuna (2216 Rosa Road, Schenectady) will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation from 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, and pastor Father Bob Longobucco plans to be present for all 24 hours.
According to Father Longobucco, the idea is to emphasize the great sacrament of mercy as the Catholic Church celebrates a Holy Year of Mercy worldwide.

“Without forgiveness, we cannot imagine life. The Sacrament of Reconciliation proves that God’s mercy is never exhausted, although I am likely to be very exhausted,” he said. Noting that many people can’t always find a parish with hours for reconciliation that accommodate work schedules and other responsibilities, he added: “Besides, when do your sins really bother you?  At 3 a.m., and you can’t do anything about them. This weekend, you can!”
