With Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Basilica In Rome
Matthew Duclos, a seminarian for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, will serve at Christmas Eve Mass with Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome Dec. 24. The Mass will be livestreamed on EWTN, a global Catholic television network, at 3:30 p.m. EST and will be available for playback on the Vatican’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/user/vatican
Duclos, one of two Albany seminarians studying at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, is a former music teacher from the Scotia-Glenville, Voorheesville, and Tamarac school districts and the former Pastoral Associate for Administration and Director of Music at Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake, his home parish. Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger announced last April that Duclos had been selected, along with fellow seminarian Stephen Yusko, to attend North American College. They are the first seminarians from the Diocese of Albany in 19 years to attend North American College, which is the alma mater of both Bishop Scharfenberger and Bishop Emeritus Howard J. Hubbard.
