Decisions for Each of the 38 Local Planning Groups in County Order

Decisions

Albany City LPG #1: 3 Parishes.
St. John’s/St. Ann’s; St. James. Cathedral of Immaculate Conception;

Decision 1: St. John’s/St. Ann’s and St. James.
Merge by July1, 2010 under one leadership (Parish Life Director and Sacramental Minister). Strong linkage with Cathedral to continue. All worship sites remain open, including Cathedral.

Decision 2: Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.
Revisit the nature of the relationship between the Cathedral and the merged parish following the completion of the restoration of the interior of the Cathedral. Meanwhile, strong linkage with these three parishes should continue.

Decisions

Decision 1: St. Joan of Arc Parish/Black Apostolate and Sacred Heart.
Both parishes remain open.

Decision 2: Holy Family Parish, Hispanic & Multi-Cultural.
Remains open at St. Patrick’s facility through December 31, 2010. No renovation of facilities without diocesan approval. During two years (2009/2010) Parishioners of Holy Family including Anglo/Hispanic/Multicultural congregation must demonstrate financial operational viability. A review of progress and viability will be made by the diocese in early 2011.

Decision 3: St. Mary’s and Blessed Sacrament.
Remain open. These parishes and all parishes in this LPG will continue to develop deeper linkages.

Decision 4: All parishes in this Local Planning Group are asked for their ongoing participation and collaboration to ensure continuation of quality Catholic School education.

Decisions

Decision 1: St. Teresa’s Parish and St. Catherine’s Parish.
Merge by Oct 1, 2009. Close St. Teresa’s Church by October 1, 2009. Merged parish to affiliate with Maria College Campus Ministry.

Decision 2: Holy Cross Parish and St. Margaret Mary Parish.
Merge by October 1, 2009. Close Holy Cross Church by October 1, 2009. Merged parish to affiliate with SUNYA Campus Ministry.

Decision 3: St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
Develop Strong linkage with merged parish of St. Margaret Mary and Holy Cross. St. Vincent’s to affiliate with College of St. Rose Campus Ministry.

Decision 4: All parishes continue to deepen linkages in the LPG.

School Decision: Merge, July 1, 2009, St. Teresa’s School and Holy Cross School at the Holy Cross School location. All parishes are asked for their ongoing participation and collaboration to ensure the continuation of quality Catholic School Education.

Decisions

Decision 1: Our Lady of Mercy and St. Francis de Sales.
In recognition of the planning process already underway involving the two parishes, a plan is to be developed and submitted to the Diocese, by December 31, 2009, for review and a final determination by the Bishop.

Decision 4: Holy Trinity and St. Michael’s.
Two Parishes remain open as separate parishes. Deepen strong linkage between these two parishes with the view toward merger. St. Michael’s to become a territorial parish.

Decision 5: St. Mary’s, Waterford and St. Michael’s and Holy Trinity, Cohoes.
Link. Deepen linkages among all three parishes in this LPG.

Decision 6: All parishes in this Local Planning Group are asked for their ongoing participation and collaboration to ensure continuation of quality Catholic School education.

Decisions

Decision 1: St. Mary’s Hudson and Resurrection, Germantown.
Merge by July 1, 2009 with one pastor and no closure of worship sites. Pastor of St. Mary’s to become pastor of new parish. Pastor of St. Mary’s assumes responsibility for Resurrection Parish as of January 18, 2009. Mission, Linlithgo to remain as a seasonal mission.

Decision 2: St. John Vianney, Claverack and St. Bridget’s, Copake Falls.
Pastor of St. Bridget’s to become pastor of St. John Vianney Parish as well. Both parishes to begin new joint feasibility study to determine the possibility of merger and the best site for a merged parish. Feasibility study to be concluded by December 31, 2009. Bishop will then decide if the merger will occur.

Decision 1: Nativity/St. Mary’s, Stuyvesant Falls and Holy Family, Stottville.
Merge by December 31, 2009 with one pastor. Pastor of Nativity/St. Mary’s to become pastor of new parish.> Both worship sites remain open.

Decision 2: St. James, Chatham and St. John the Baptist, Valatie.
Deepen linkage with each other and to the new merged parish in this Local Planning Group.

Decisions

Decision 1: Our Lady of Good Counsel Mission Church (Mission of Sacred Heart parish in Margaretville).
Close Mission Church immediately.Decision 2: Deepen linkage among All parishes in the deanery. (Exception: Sacred Heart, Stamford participates in the Schoharie County deanery.)

Decision 3: Develop specific Mass schedule and back-up plan for deanery.

Decision 1: St. Mary of Mount Carmel and Sacred Heart, Gloversville.
Merge by July 1, 2009. Determine by July 1, 2009, the one worship site to be closed and transmit that recommendation to Bishop Hubbard by July 1, 2009. The Bishop will then decide a closing date beyond July, 2009 for the closing of the worship site.

Decision 2: Holy Trinity Johnstown.
Determine by July 1, 2009 the two worship sites to be closed and transmit that recommendation to the Bishop by July 1, 2009. The Bishop will then decide the closing date/s for the two worship sites in Johnstown.

Decision 3: St. Joseph’s, Broadalbin and St. Francis, Northville.

Decision 1: St. Patrick’s, Catskill. St. Patrick’s, Athens.
Complete feasibility study> of St. Patrick’s church, rectory and school by December 31, 2009. At that time, diocese and parish to revisit the issue of merger with St. Patrick’s, Athens. Decision 2: St. Mary’s, Coxsackie and St. Patrick’s, Ravena. Deepen linkages with each other.

Decision 1: Immaculate Conception, Haines Falls and Sacred Heart, Palenville. Merge by 7/1/09 maintaining two worship sites. One pastor.

Decision 2: Immaculate Conception and mission church of St. Joseph’s.
Both remain open. As Local Planning Group number of priests reduces from 3 to 2, ongoing viability of the mission church will be assessed.
