This page is designed to provide on-line access to all of the manuals that facilitators, parishes and Local Planning Group participants will need to conduct meetings as we plan for the future of our diocese.  As resources become available, their link on this page will be activated.  The resources are divided into the two major phases of “Called to BE Church:” 

PHASE 2  

Local Planning Group Meetings (LPGM) - Prayerful Work Phase of Called to BE Church - January 2007 through June 2008. With the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ central to discussion and planning, the Local Planning Groups  will begin a series of monthly meetings assisted by a facilitator from the diocese. The goal of this planning will be to collaboratively and through consensus establish a plan for the local planning group that will be submitted in June, 2008 for review and approval by the bishop. Below are the resources for the monthly meetings:

General Reference Material for the Process

1.         Scope and Sequence of Topics - This is a tentative description of the monthly topics for the 18 month planning process.

2.         Bishop’s Charge to LPGM - This one page document contains Bishop Hubbard’s charge to those involved in pastoral planning.  It contains the commission to members, the methodology and definitions.  It should be given to all LPGM and be available at all meetings.  (See E-Mail Attachment 02 - Charge)

December 2007 - June 2008  

1.         Memorandum #10 Issued November 23, 2007 titled: “Pulling It All Together.”   – This memorandum should be given to all Local Planning Group Members. 

Note:    As the Local Planning Groups met for the first year, they were provided with monthly guides, appendix materials and meeting summary forms. For the last six months, the LPG’s will use a comprehensive workbook to develop recommendations and plans for submission to the diocese. Core team members will receive this workbook. In addition, a CD will be sent to each parish.

2        Memorandum #1 Issued January 18, 2008, titled: Resource Packet. This memorandum may be of interest to all Local Planning Group Members. There are four parts to the Resource Packet:

            Diocese of Albany - Presbyteral Days from Patricia M. Kelly, Ph.D. This is Dr. Kelly’s outline on “Fears and Freedoms” associated with pastoral planning and should be read by all who could not attend her workshops on the topic.

Case Study/Sample Scenario - A very useful document for the LPG working committees containing hypothetical recommendations.

Additional focus questions that could assist the working committees as they begin discussions.  

Parish Annual Building Operating Cost Form - This could be used by the Administration/Finance working committee when questions relating to facilities are being discussed.  

3        Memorandum #2 This memorandum was sent to all pastors, administrators and parish life directors and contained financial information for the LPG’s. It is not available on-line. 

4.         Communications Letter - A letter from Bishop Hubbard dated
January 31, 2008 regarding communicating Called to BE Church to the people of the Diocese of Albany and a schedule of training sessions.
        

Communicating Called to Be Church - This is the attachment to the bishop’s letter containing guidelines referred to in the above letter. Bring a copy to the training session you attend.

5        Memorandum #3 Dated January 31, 2008 regarding OPTIONAL Church Building Evaluation/Inspection Guidelines. The attachments are available below.

PHASE 1
 

Loosening The Soil (LTS) - Loosening the soil conversations on the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ through Parish Town Meetings and Local Leadership Meetings.  The Loosening the Soil meetings were designed to start dialogue between parishes within a Local Planning Group and throughout the diocese.  These meetings are also designed to center our focus on the real meaning of being Church. The remaining links are still active and may be useful.
