The Diocesan Service Committee for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal has as its primary mission to proclaim the Gospel Message and evangelize people to the Lord Jesus Christ through the Power and Gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Charismatic Renewal is a special grace from God in this age that has brought millions of people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ along with an empowering to live the Christian life more fully.

The DSC fosters the personal experience of Pentecost through the basic elements of the Charismatic Renewal, which include:

  • The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

  • Commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior

  • Reception and use of the Charismatic Gifts of the Holy Spirit

  • Growth in community by living as brothers and sisters in love

  • Growth in holiness and faith

  • Growth in witnessing to Jesus Christ through personal testimony and the corporal
    works of mercy

  • Growth in knowledge of the Scriptures

The DSC fosters the growth of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Albany Diocese through:

  • Conducting Life in the Spirit and Growth in the Spirit Seminars

  • Sponsoring Diocesan Teaching and Healing Days

  • Encouraging praise and worship at Diocesan Prayer Meetings and Charismatic Liturgies

  • Encouraging attendance at National and Local Conferences

  • Fostering unity among the various prayer groups and leaders

The DSC serves the Mission of the Catholic Church and works with other Christian denominations to foster unity and world evangelization.

John Paul II has said that people want to have

an experience of God Today.  We believe that by

being open to the Charismatic gifts as listed in the

Scriptures, this faith-building experience will occur.
