CALLED TO BE CHURCH
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The
committees have concluded their work, and now we
wait prayerfully for the pastoral planning
process in our Diocese, Called To Be Church, to
continue towards its conclusion.
Our Lady of Fatima is part of the Local Planning
Group II, located in western Schenectady County,
along with St. Madeleine Sophie, St. Gabriel’s,
St. Margaret of Cortona and Our Lady of the
Assumption.
The recommendation for Our Lady of Fatima,
presented to the Diocese in June, 2008 was that
we remain open and link with Our Lady of the
Assumption.
Beginning this Fall, a Review Commission,
appointed by the Bishop, will examine all of the
recommendations submitted by the Local Planning
Groups throughout the Diocese of Albany. They
are charged with making sure that all of the
guidelines set forth for Called To Be Church are
met in each recommendation. They have the option
of sending a recommendation back for further
revision, or deciding that a recommendation is
acceptable to pass on to Bishop Hubbard.
During the months of November and December,
Bishop Hubbard will review all the accumulated
data from the Local Planning Groups and make his
final decision regarding what the future Church
of Albany will look like for the next decade. He
will announce his decision in January, 2009.
Please continue to pray for ALL of our faith as
Called To Be Church becomes a reality for our
Diocese, and we will all be touched by the
results. Believe that this is a process driven
by the Holy Spirit, and a part of God’s plan for
us!
