Our themed potluck dinners have garnered great reviews and continue to gain in popularity. Held approximately every other month, the dinners offer the opportunity for parishioners to come together in a relaxed, family environment. Music, decorations, and various activities round out each event.
The dinners are free with the parish providing beverages and, usually, the main entrée. Signup sheets, posted at the doors of church approximately three weeks before each event, provide a tentative headcount and allow each family to specify the favorite dish they will bring to share at the dinner. (Each dish should serve approximately 10-12 people.)
Cabin Fever, midwinter, features hearty soups and casseroles
Mardi Gras, the Saturday before Lent, celebrates all foods southern
South of the Border, Spring, hosts a chicken barbecue
All Souls, the Saturday before November 1st, brings family favorites to mind
All events are held on Saturdays, immediately following the 5:15 PM mass.
Keep watch for information on each upcoming event!

Our Parish Picnic celebrates both the family aspect of our community and the birth date of our patron, Saint Alphonsus. Held after the 10:00 AM mass on the Sunday closest to St. Alphonsus’ birth--August 1, this year’s event fell on August 5th. The picnic is held on the grounds of the Knights of Columbus banquet facilities on Route 9, allowing us to take advantage of both the outdoor cooking area and the covered pavilion. We thank the K of C for its generous donation of facilities each year. As with our other dinners, the main entrée—hot dogs and hamburgers—as well as liquid refreshments are provided by the parish with signup sheets ensuring that a spread of enticing dishes—again serving 10-12
are available.
The picnic sports a variety of family games and events—everything from horseshoes to sack races. While there are plenty of picnic tables available, we recommend that, in addition to the shared dish, each family bring their own folding chairs.
