“Having been sent by God to the nations to be ‘the universal sacrament of salvation,’ the Church, in obedience to the command of her founder (Matthew 16:15) and because it is demanded by her own essential unity, strives to preach the Gospel to all.”

Vatican Council II
Ad Gentes Divinitus

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, until the end of time.”

Matthew 28:19-20

EVANGELIZATION & CATECHESIS

Evangelization & Catechesis core team leaders consist of Deacon Warren Dorsch, Jackie Jefferson, JoAnn Hayes Catechetical Leader and Laurie DeLaurentis and Angie Yench as Catechetical Associates.

The mission of the Evangelization & Catechesis Committee is to include all generations in faith formation. “Life Gatherings” (Living Our Faith Everyday) will be planned each month where the whole parish family will be included. Gatherings are centered around the Liturgical Year to offer special activities and enjoy special events to learn and share faith with the parish family.

“Liturgy of the Word for Children” The core center of our program is attendance at Mass as a family. Liturgy of the Word is not a substitute for Sunday school. It brings the scriptures to the children on their level. The Children are called forward with a Presider and sent forth to hear the same readings from Sacred Scripture that are proclaimed during Mass on their level.  Children from age 2 through 5th grade are encouraged to participate in this experience each week at the 11:00 Mass.

Keeping in mind the promises that we made at the Baptism of our children that we, as parents would be the first teachers of faith to our children. Grades K through 5th will be doing home study. A parent study guide will accompany each grade level to be used at home. The Core team will be available to help with any questions that come up to ensure the best possible experience for the family as you continue to grow in faith.

For Junior/Senior High mini-courses will be offered 6 weeks of classes for 2 hours each
three times per year.

These classes follow the curriculum of our diocese each course will consist of one topic for each series such as Scripture, Church, and Sacraments. In between the mini-courses there will be opportunities for service projects and participation in the “Life Gatherings” Retreats and Reconciliation evenings will also be available during the year.
