Deacon's Neil’s Page

Fall is winding down and we approach a very busy time in our lives – the celebration of Thanksgiving and the season of Advent culminating in the feast of Christmas. We are reminded at this time of year of God’s great gifts to us – gifts for which we can give thanks as we celebrate the annual national holiday of Thanksgiving. In our parish on Thanksgiving Day we will celebrate the liturgy at 10 a.m. and those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the less fortunate in our community.

God’s greatest gift to us comes at Christmas with the coming of his Son in human form in the person of Jesus Christ. This great feast reminds us of how much in love God is with us to become one of us. We are made in the image and likeness of God and God returns the favor by taking on our human image and likeness in the incarnation. How privileged a people we are!

There are many activities taking place in the parish during this busy season. Information about them can be found in the Events section of our website. Please take the opportunity to become involved in any or all of these activities.

Our home page has a new picture describing Our Lady of Grace. The statue of Our Lady that now rests in front of the sign at the entrance of our church property is the gift of Frances Cappiello and we are grateful to her for giving us this reminder of our parish patroness. The foundation and stone work for the statue were provided by the DiPrimios – Dante, Sr. and Dante, Jr. We also thank them for the donation of their time and talents. The grounds on our property have also seen a face lift through the efforts of Brian Brousseau and his band of helpers. These have been Brian’s efforts toward his reception of the rank of Eagle Scout.

We will soon be on the threshold of a new year – 2010. Let us hope and pray that this new year will be one of blessing and good fortune for our parish and all of its people. Have a pleasant and grace-filled holiday season!
