St. Joseph the Worker Parish
Volunteer Opportunities

One way to make a rewarding and spiritually-enriching contribution to your Parish is to become involved as a volunteer. No matter what your interests are, there is an opportunity for you! As an active participant in Parish life, you will meet people from all parts of the community and touch the lives of so many. Working together toward a common goal, we can all help to weave a beautiful tapestry for St. Joseph the Worker Parish that will be strong, binding and lasting.

We hope you will find the following volunteer activities of interest. When you find a ministry that suits your particular gifts or talents, contact us at the Pastoral Office (315) 822-3191 and we will connect you. And if you have an idea for a group or ministry not listed here, we’d love to hear from you!

Thank you for your interest in becoming involved in Parish ministry. It is with the cooperation and commitment of all parishioners that our new community will be more vibrant than ever!

Special Opportunities

Wrap a Child in Christ's Love

The local Catholic Charities has asked us to provide warm afghans to give to children who come to their Safe House.  These children often arrive with only the shirts on their backs and a warm blanket of their very own is one way to comfort them. We need people who can knit and crochet (we have received a donation of yarn) to make this project work.  Please call or text Sue Korosec (315) 292-0770 after 5 pm for more information.

Share Your Faith
We can always use people to teach or help out in our Religious Education Programs. You need not be a professional teacher, theologian or a bible scholar.  All that is needed is a love of our young people and a desire to help them to understand the Faith.  The Holy Spirit will provide the rest!

For further information or to volunteer please contact Fr. Silvaster (315) 822-3191, for Richfield Springs - Cathy Mackin (315) 858-2466, for West Winfield - Ruth Rowe (315) 822-6412.

Calling all musicians!
We are in need of a pianist and some vocalists to lead the singing at the Saturday night Vigil Mass in West Winfield.  For further information or to volunteer please call Jo Ann Capraro 822-6914.

Help for Our Elderly

Presently, there are 12 senior citizens in our community who need help getting to their medical appointments.  There is a program through Catholic Charities which provides insurance coverage and mileage for people who volunteer to drive them to their appointments. If you can offer 1 ride or many please call Vicky at the rectory 822-3191 or 534-8676.
