Established in 1968, the Commission for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs seeks to foster through common worship, dialogue, and social action, the most effective relationships among the people of this diocese and the people of other ecclesial communities, in order to encourage mutual growth toward the fullness of unity in Christ and toward productive inter-religious affairs.

The Commission is appointed by the Bishop to work with him in these matters. It consists of eighteen members – laity, clergy, religious – and also includes a Protestant advisor and the ecumenical officer of the diocese. The Commission meets bi-monthly and suggestions for the agenda may be made to the chairperson or the ecumenical officer.
