The Family Life Office: Natural Family Planning

What is NFP? It is a safe, reliable way for married couples to either avoid pregnancy or achieve pregnancy. It is effective and natural. Side effects?....clearer understanding about the female reproductive system, better communication and deeper intimacy!

One of the most common fallacies in today’s world is that woman can become pregnant whenever they want. Studies show that the later a woman waits, the more difficult it is for her to become pregnant. Birth control pills also have as a side effect infertility long after the discontinuance of the pill. What do doctors recommend for women with fertility problems? Charting their cycle - exactly what NFP teaches.

The sympto-thermal method of charting the reproductive cycle helps women to determine, by body temperature and physical changes, the most fertile times to conceive. If a husband and wife want to avoid conception, they would abstain from making love during that time. If a husband and wife want to conceive, they would make love during that time.

The husband and wife using NFP learn mutual respect and take mutual responsibility - something no other method of birth control offers or achieves.
