In Word and Deed: Show #005 (HS, ADULT)
This show, which aired on 3/3/02, features the following. Donna DeMaria from the Homeless Action Committee House (HAC) founded a shelter on North Pearl St. in Albany where people with drinking problems find a safe alternative to being on the streets. Viola Bucci, an 81-year-old woman with a wonderful sense of service, runs Helpers Community Service Shop in Gloversville. Love God and love your neighbor is her motto. Mary Louise Hamlin, known as POL (plain old lady), is in service to AIDS patients, their families, senior citizens, and others in need in Rensselaer County. Local celebrity, Eamonn McGirr uses his talents and business for a variety of worthy causes, such as Theology on Tap for Young Adults and the Center for the Disabled.

This is the first in a series of six videos. This series aims to help today's Christian adult connect the Good News of the Gospel with the real life experiences of childhood and adolescence, midlife changes, mature decision-making, aging, and the facing of limits. This session introduces participants to one another and to the series. It explores how faith affects our day-to-day growth as a person.

Ministering With Small Faith Communities: Free to be Me/Beg Sm Comms (HS, ADULT)
This program by Madeline Gervais and Rev. Art Baranowski builds on Father John Powell's popular Free To Be Me video program. It helps individuals explore the way they look at themselves, at other people, at life, the world, and God. The program provides a beginning experience for developing small faith communities and helping participants to discover the power that small faith communities have to renew and revitalize parish life. Session titles are: VIDEO 1 - My Vision of Reality; How My Vision is Shaped; Jesus' Vision, My Vision; VIDEO 2 - My Vision of Self; Who Do I Tell You That I Am? My Worth in God's Eyes; VIDEO 3 - My Vision of Others; The Secret of Love; My Vision of God.

Relationships: Knowing the Good from the Bad (HS, ADULT)
This video challenges students to consider the quality of their relationships and helps them to be aware of their ability and right to make healthy choices. It has several role play situations in which ordinary teenagers are asked to dramatize common interactions in adolescence: concern for troubled friends, pressure to engage in criminal activity, report cards, dating and sex. The Teacher's Guide includes a lecture outline, worksheets, and self-assessment surveys to be used either before or after the viewings.

Helping People Help Themselves (HS, ADULT)
This video presentation travels across the country and chronicles the spirit of Catholic social teaching, lived out through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. It shows how lives have changed as a result of self-help projects that received seed money from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. This video is a valuable introduction to the work of the Campaign and can be shown in parishes, schools, educational workshops, catechetical and catechumenate programs, campus and young adult ministry, small faith communities, and any setting where people are seeking to put their faith into action. Love Is Patient: Saving Sex for Marriage (Adolescent; Young Adults)
Sexual intimacy is a gift from God to be enjoyed within marriage. But choosing to save sex for marriage is difficult for young people, especially in today's society. Young people need to know the many benefits of saving sex for marriage: It shows respect for oneself, one's sexuality, and on'e relationships. It is an expression of love for God. Living with sexual integrity recognizes and respects the importance, value, and power of sex. The young people and counselors in this video share this message from their personal testimonies, letting viewers know that sexual abstinence before marriage is God's expectation for all of us, and that He will give us the grace to do it.

The Gift of Hope: The Tony Melendez Story (Adolescent; Young Adults)
Tony Melendez may have been born without arms, but that hasn't stopped him from enjoying life to the fullest. Tony was born with this birth defect in 1962 as a result of his mother's taking the prescription drug Thalidomide. Today he is known around the world for playing the guitar with his feet. In this program we meet Tony and see him perform in many locations. Tony is a powerful speaker and is frequently invited to give presentations to young people on drug abuse, the importance of self-esteem, disability awareness, cultural awareness, and family support.

Taize: That Little Springtime (Adult, Young Adult)
Shot on location in France, this video presents a glimpse of 80 men--from different cultures and different Christian traditions--who comprise the ecumenical community of Taize, founded in 1940. Thousands of people--mostly young adults--have traveled from around the world to the picturesque Burgundy region of Franch to spend time with the community. In the program, we see them in Bible Study and small group discussions, as well as in prayer with the Brothers--a prayer composed of Scripture readings, silence and the well-known Taize music. The young people speak of their motivations and hopes, while Brother Roger, Taize's founder, shares his reasons for beginning the community. Several of the Brothers reflect on Taize's mission today.
