Echoes of Faith: The Catechist: Part I: Getting Started as a Catechist (ADULT)
This is the first of a series of videos with a goal to acquaint catechists with the foundations of Catholic doctrine and tradition, and introduce them to the principles and practice of sound catechesis. The intended outcome is more competent and confident catechists. Topics include: lesson planning, creative activities, classroom management, and creating a social environment and an atmosphere for prayer.

Echoes of Faith: The Catechist: Part II: Roles of the Catechist (ADULT)
In this video, four important roles of catechists are presented: storyteller, teacher/companion, leader of prayer, and witness for justice. The four-fold purpose of catechesis is also presented: to teach the message, to build a faith community, to lead to prayer and worship, and to call to service. The video encourages you, as well, to meet regularly with other catechists, the school principal, or the program director.

Echoes of Faith: The Catechist: Part III: The Person of the Catechist (ADULT)
This video's format is a seminar. People reflect on their involvement in the catechetical ministry. Four insights are developed into the person of the catechist: the vocation of the catechist, the qualities of the catechist, growing as a catechist, and trusting the Spirit. As a result of working through this video, you should understand better the qualities of a catechists, realize the importance of your continued growth in faith, and appreciate the active role of the Spirit in your ministry.

Echoes of Faith: Catholic Morality (ADULT)
This video is one of a series. It is a basic level, video-assisted resource for the formation and enrichment of catechists in parishes and Catholic schools. It can also provide a vehicle for adult faith formation. The goal of this module is to explore the foundations of Catholic morality and the practice of the moral life. Some topics addressed are: human dignity and community as the foundations of the moral life, Scripture, objective morality and subjective responsibility, moral actions and the grace of God, conscience, and the Commandments and the new law of Jesus Christ.

Echoes of Faith: I Believe, We Believe (ADULT)
This video is one of a series. It is based on the Christian Creed, and is divided into five parts: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, The Christian Creed, and The Magesterium. Each part deals with the topic as related in the recitation of the Nicene Creed and also the Apostles' Creed. It is an in-depth study of the Creed and how it is the basis for our Catholic Faith.

Echoes of Faith: Introduction to the Learner (ADULT)
This video is one of a series. It introduces you to your learners and to the continuous cycle of growth and development that occurs throughout their lives. You will have the opportunity to explore this growth and development in three areas: how we build knowledge and construct meaning; how we grow psychologically and in our ability to relate to others; and how we grow in our ability to think and act morally. In the final segment, you will learn how all these areas of development affect how we perceive and express our faith.

Echoes of Faith: Introduction to the Scriptures (ADULT)
This video is one of a series. It is intended as a general overview of the central themes and message of the Bible. You will learn what the Bible is and why it is considered the holy book of the Christian community. You will be introduced to some of the foundational stories of the Bible. The module will conclude with a reflection on Jesus Christ, who reveals to us the fullness of God's saving action in our midst.

Echoes of Faith: Prayer and Spirituality (ADULT)
This video is one of a series. It is divided into four segments. The first two explore the nature of prayer, various forms of prayer, and some obstacles to prayer. The third segment examines the spiritual life as it is lived in the midst of day-to-day issues and challenges. The final segment offers a reflection and catechesis on the central prayer of the Christian tradition, the Our Father.

Echoes of Faith: Liturgy and Sacraments (ADULT)
This video is one of a series. In it, you will explore the meaning of liturgy and sacrament, and gain insight into why the sacramental life of the faith community is so central to our Catholic identity. Some core understandings addressed are: the meaning of ritual, the nature of liturgy, symbolic actions and the saving action we celebrate, and the seven sacraments and the experiences of life.

Echoes of Faith: Methods For Grades 1 and 2 (ADULT)
This video is one of a series. Six- or seven-year olds (grades 1 or 2) think concretely and learn much by "doing" it. This video prepares catechists to work with these young people effectively; teaching them how to pray, acting out parables of Jesus and setting forth "clear standards of goodness" found in God's commandments.

Echoes of Faith: Methods For Grades 3 and 4 (ADULT)
This video is one of a series. The faith of eight- and nine-year-olds is expanding. The goals of this video are to introduce you to their uniqueness and to explore the age-appropriate methods and activities that assist their growth in faith. The video will help you to answer the following questions: Who are these eight- and nine-year-olds? What do they need from us in order to grow in their relationship with God? How can we continue to teach the story of their Catholic faith--its Scriptures and its Sacred Tradition? In what ways do activities help them learn about their faith? What forms of prayer are appropraite? How can we include children with special needs? As a result of viewing this video, you will be able to: understand the special gifts and characteristics of eight- and nine-year-olds during this time in their faith development, develop appropriate and motivating activities that help learners to discover more about their faith and grow in their relationship with God, and begin creating a file of resources that will aid you in planning appropriate activities for your sessions.

This video is one of a series. Its goals are to introduce you to the characteristics of ten- and eleven-year-olds and to explore age-appropriate methods and activities which can assist their growth in faith. The video will help you to answer the following questions: Who are these ten- and eleven-year-olds? What do they need from us to grow in their relationship with God? How can we enrich and strengthen their growing understanding of the Catholic faith? How can we help them increase their skills for reflection on faith and life? What kinds of activities engage learners at this age? What forms of prayer are appropriate? How can we include children with special needs? The goals of this video are to introduce you to their uniqueness and to explore age-appropriate methods and activities that can assist their growth in faith. It will help you answer the following questions: Who are these twelve- to fourteen-year-olds? What do they need from us to grow in their relationship with God? How can we best affirm and deepen their Catholic faith? How can we help them see the relevance of Scripture and Sacred Tradition to their lives? In what ways do activities and small group discussions help them learn about their faith? What styles and kinds of prayer are appropriate? How can we include young people with special needs?
