Vatican II 3rd Millenium Series - Ecumenism (ADULT)
This VATICAN II series explains the change in outlook that the Council fostered in the Church and explores how the documents of Vatican II continue to renew the Church today. It is excellent for adult education , RCIA, small groups, catechist training, returning Catholics and post-RENEW groups. The ecumenical movement has been called the miracle of the twentieth century. Ecumenism refers to the promotion of unity among the Christian churches. In its broader sense, ecumenism extends also to non-Christian religions. This video, ECUMENISM, explores the ecumenical movement in the Church before, during and after the Council. The ecumenical movement was first started in the early 1900's in Asia and Africa by Protestant missionaries who began to realize that the greatest obstacle to preaching the gospel was the scandal of division among Christian churches. The starting point for ecumenism in the Catholic Church centered on the question, "What is the Church?" Half a century of study and experience by European theologians began to blossom at Vatican II when biblical, liturgical, lay and missionary renewal all pointed toward ecumensim.

David Kaczynski, Director of New Yorkers Against the Death Penalty, talks about his path in life and his active role with NYADP. Sister Helen Prejean, author of the bestseller "Dead Man Walking", joins us in this segment; and Bishop Howard Hubbard discusses, with host Bob Cudmore, David's role with NYADP.

Vatican II: Vision 2000 (ADULT)

World Religions: Many Though One (ADULT)

Gateway To Faith: Papal Visit to St. Louis 1/99 (JH, HS, ADULT)
Pope John Paul II arrived in St. Louis on January 26, 1999. Tens of thousands of people lined the parade routes and cheered. The air was electric with excitement and spiritual renewal. During his 32-hour pastoral visit, the Holy Father touched the hearts of people of all faiths. He addressed the youth gathered to celebrate their baptismal call to encounter Christ. He celebrated Mass with an assembly of 90,000 faithful at an indoor venue, while thousands more braved the winter weather and prayed outside. At an ecumenical prayer service on the second day of his visit, the Pope reached out to people around the globe, inviting them to take up the challenge and enter the new millennium with Christ as their Shepherd.

Hiding and Seeking: Faith and Tolerance after the Holocaust (Adult, Young Adult)
A film about hope for the future, tolerance for the "other" and an exciting inter-generational saga about revisiting the past. This award-winning documentary tell the dramatic and emotional story of a Jewish father who journeys with his two ultra-Orthodox sons back to Poland to try to find the Christian farmers who hid their family form the Nazis. To his sons this is a land whose people are beyond redemption. The father hopes that if they can find examples of decency among Poles his sons will recognize the potential for goodness in all people.

Image Before My Eyes (Adults)
This award-winning documentary is a stunning commemoration of Jews in Poland between the two World Wars. It pays homage to the 3.5 million people who were destroyed during the Holocaust. Unearthing the stories of Jewish villagers, scholars, socialists, Ziojnists, and artists who built a thriving culture during a 900-year history, this film draws on the artifacts of a vanished world to recreate Jewish Poland.
