Baptism Of Susan (ADULT)
This is a delightful, moving, lyrically visual experience that strengthens the sense of continuity in the faith community while showing parents how their decision to baptize their child plays a vital role in maintaining it. It is an excellent reinforcement for every baptism preparation effort, since it helps parents discover once more the mainspring of their own beginnings and assures a welcome to new members into the Christian Community. It is strong on motivation as well as contemporary theological education.

Changing Sacraments: Godparent Gussie (HS, ADULT)
Godparent Gussie presents a historical survey of the development of the Church's rites of initiation explained through the use of humorous animation interspersed with reflective commentary by Fr. Anthony Scannell. It shows how the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation evolved and demonstrates how church practice and ritual are constantly involved in a process of change and growth. It helps the viewer understand that we are one Church, wherein some of us were brought into the community as infants, guided by our parents' faith while others come to Baptism as adults, with a greater personal motivation. As we mature in faith, we all struggle together to understand and live out our baptismal commitment. Knowing where our belief and practice came from helps us to see more clearly where we are as believers in process and on a journey of faith.

Baptism is about dying and rising, and can be life-changing today if we understand it in its radical depth. Presented by Rev. Michael Himes, this video is unique in its exploration of the awesome and mystical depth of the sacrament of Baptism and for its insights into original sin. New Look At The Paschal Mystery (ADULT)
Rev. Eugene LaVerdiere states that there are several ways of reading the passion-resurrection narrative. It can be read as the story of Jesus, the story of his enemies, or the story of Jesus' disciples. When read as the story of Jesus' disciples, it is a baptism story. This video shows the possibilities of the Gospel when read as a baptism story. For use with RCIA teams, religious formation of adults, parish staffs.

This Is The Night: A Parish Welcomes New Catholics (HS, ADULT)
The vision of Christian Initiation comes alive in Pasadena, Texas, as St. Pius V Parish welcomes catechumens and candidates. The elect are baptized by immersion and oil is poured generously over their heads and rubbed into their faces. Most moving is the sight of the loving, active community praying at Sunday Eucharist, praying over the catechumens in the scrutiny, surrounding the baptismal pool on Vigil night, embracing the neophytes, and then coming forward themselves to touch the flowing water after renewing their own baptismal vows. Equally powerful are the testimonies of the catechumens, candidates, elect, neophytes, sponsors, and parishioners testifying to their longing for baptism, to what it was like to go down into the water, to feel the oil, to pray over the elect, to come to Eucharist for the first time.

Lenten Journey - Danger & Desire (ADULT)
This is program two of a four-part series. Father Michael Himes draws insights from the Lenten Sunday liturgical readings from the Gospel of John (Year A). Catholic Update Video: Adult Baptism: Exploring Its Meaning (HS, ADULT)
This video looks at the imagery surrounding the Sacrament of Baptism, part of the Church's rite of initiation for both adults and infants. While it is intended primarily for adults preparing for Baptism, portions of this program are helpful to parents preparing for the Baptism of their children. STORY SEGMENT presents several slices of life, set against the rich imagery of water and the celebration of the Easter Vigil, to help viewers answer the question: What does it mean to be baptized? WITNESS SEGMENT gives real-life Catholic adults an opportunity to testify to what the celebration of their own Baptism meant to them. TEACHING SEGMENT, with Fr. Tom Richstatter, O.F.M., examines the various images used in connection with Baptism, and goes on to offer insights into the question of what it means to be baptized. The program concludes with a MUSIC VIDEO REFLECTION, "I Say Yes, Lord," which echoes the Christian's ongoing response to Baptism.

Catholic Update Video: Infant Baptism: A Gift to Community (ADULT)
The Story Segment is a parable that explores what parents experience with the Church community when they bring their baby for Baptism. A father-and-son conflict over the family business reveals the dependence of child upon parent, a relationship that parallels our relationship to God. The Witness Segment introduces two couples who are experienced in presenting Baptism workshops to parents; they share key points in celebrating the sacrament. In the Teaching Segment, Father Tom Richstatter, O.F.M., reflects on what the parish community witnesses at the celebration of infant Baptism; the unique relationship of interdependence parents and their children share. That relationship mirrors how all of us depend upon God, as our loving parent. This wirness is a great gift which parents and child give to the Church. The program concludes with a Music Video Reflection entitled "Purest Praise," sung by contemporary Christian artist Sandi Patti. The imagery of Baptism and community complements the music.

Celebrating Sacraments (Series) - Baptism: Celebrating Life (Rev.Ed.) (ADULT)
Most parents need and deserve a much fuller understanding of the life-transforming effects of baptism both for their child and for themselves. This video emphasizes the fact that through baptism each of us "proclaims Christ" as our savior and is "claimed by Christ" to become a member of the Church and begin a new life in him. Through a discussion of the theology and an overview of the rites and rituals, the program reminds parents that they and their children are called through baptism to be witnesses to a gospel way of life. As the title states, in Baptism we are celebrating life in God's family.
