After an extensive investigation, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany announced today that it will add the late Rev. Cabell B. Marbury to its List of Offenders, citing “reasonable cause” related to three allegations of sexual abuse against minors.

Ordination to the priesthood and diaconate for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany were originally scheduled to take place in May and June but, due to COVID-19, the events were postponed and combined into a single celebration that will take place on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle St., Albany.

Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger will sign over the deed to a two-acre parcel of property for the future Holocaust Memorial in Niskayuna to Dr. Michael Lozman, as President of the Capital District Jewish Holocaust Memorial, Inc., on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 12:30 p.m. at the diocesan Pastoral Center.

At the request of Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger, a collection to assist relief efforts in the aftermath of the deadly August 4 explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, will be taken up in parishes throughout the 14 counties of the Diocese of Albany from now through the weekend of September 12-13.

Following allegations made by several women that Catholic music composer and musician David Haas engaged in inappropriate conduct with them while they were young adults, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany will no longer use compositions by Haas at diocesan Masses or other diocesan events.
