Bishop Scharfenberger to Celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe Dec. 9
Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas, 273 Central Ave., Albany. All are invited to attend.
Bishop Scharfenberger will lead a procession through the neighborhood beginning at 11 a.m. Accompanied by a mariachi band, participants will process with a statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Mass with Bishop Scharfenberger will follow at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the church. The celebrations commemorate the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to a Mexican peasant, Juan Diego, in 1531.
