Paula Bordis's Bio
I grew up in rural Albany County with my parents and four siblings. I think we went to Mass every week for the first 18 years of my life, with the exception of two Sundays: one week when there was a blizzard and another one when my mother was sick. Our parish was St. Bernedette’s in Berne and St. Lucy’s in Altamont; my family still attends St. Lucy’s. Father Bob Roos was one of our pastors, and he made a huge difference in the way I experience God; I will always be grateful for him.
It felt like a full-circle moment when I started working at the Diocese in the Real Property Office in 2019. I had sold real estate for 30 years, mostly new home communities with various builders. I’ve enjoyed helping the diocese and the parishes in the way I helped former customers and clients. Explaining the often-complicated process of real estate matters in easily understandable language and being responsive to the parish's real estate needs is rewarding. I took on the role of Architecture and Building Commission coordinator in January of 2022 - this has added another dimension to my job that I enjoy.
I’ve lived in Rotterdam with my husband, Jim, for the last 21 years. Away from work, I enjoy getting together with our blended families…we all seem to gravitate towards card games. I started a book club in my neighborhood which has been fun and very interesting. I’m reading books I really enjoy that I probably wouldn’t have selected on my own. The ladies who are part of the group are a pleasure to be around. I enjoy any kind of movement including walking, yoga, working out, hiking, and golf. My favorite thing though is good conversation with open-minded, interesting, and loving people.
