No matter when the abuse happened, what the circumstances were, or who was involved, the Diocese of Albany encourages all victims to report any instance of abuse by a member of the clergy, an employee, or a volunteer.

It takes courage and bravery to make a report. Be assured that you will be treated with respect and dignity.

Steps to Making a Report

Step 1: Emergency

  • If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911.

Step 2: Mandated Reporters

Step 3: Law Enforcement

Step 4: Diocesan Officials

  • Report the allegation to Diocesan officials:

The Assistance Coordinator will respond within 48 hours. Reports will not be screened for credibility.

Allegations of abuse of minors received by the Assistance Coordinator will be reported to the appropriate District Attorney. Copies of reports will be sent to the Bishop, Diocesan Attorney, and Diocesan Review Board.
