The Office for Discipleship Formation exists to support parishes in their ministries that call, form and send disciples of the Lord Jesus into the world.
In particular, the Bishop has asked us to support these ministries: marriage and family life, faith formation (for all ages), sacramental preparation, youth ministry, lay formation, pastoral care of the sick, and respect life.

David Amico's Bio
I have served in ministry for almost all of my adult life – nearly 40 years! January 2025 will mark my 27th year ministering here at the diocese. I live in Colonie and share my home with my 94-year-old mother. I am the adoptive dad of a special needs young adult, Tony, who lives at St. Margaret’s Center, Albany. The image of ministry that is most dear to my heart is that of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples at the Last Supper: As I have done for you, you should also do.
Mary Fay's Bio
My first work in ministry was as a catechist and music minister while a teenager on Long Island. I met my husband in an interparish theater program one summer in high school. We have been music ministers together from the day we met. Once married, we volunteered together in Marriage Preparation and NFP Ministry as well. Once we relocated to Columbia Country in 1994, we directed the “Family Choir” at our home parish in Valatie for almost 20 years. In that time, we raised our family of five children. Eighteen years ago I was invited to use my gifts at the diocesan level. With experience in nonprofit programing and marriage related ministry, I was added to the staff of the Family Life Office in 2006. In 2020 I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in Community and Human Services with a concentration in Family Ministry Studies from SUNY Empire State. In 2023 became a Spiritual Director through the diocese Holy Grounds program.
I have always believed that sharing God’s Love is the mission we are each called to, in the work I do at RCDA, I help others discover how to best use their gifts and share their witness. All the ministries I am responsible for here share a similar core work of bringing the message of God’s mercy and joy to the world.
Erin Muir's Bio
My journey in church ministry began at the age of 13 when I started as a catechist’s aide in my parish. Over the years I have volunteered in various capacities learning so much from those serving with me and even more from those I have served.
For the past 23 years, I have been employed in the diocese, including 17 years serving in a parish.
The most rewarding part of my work is collaborating with others to discern the next best steps in bringing Christ’s love to those we serve.
I hold a BA from Siena College and a MA from St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry. In 2023 I completed the Holy Ground program for spiritual directors.
Married for 43 years, my spouse and I are blessed with four children and six grandchildren.
I love cooking, family gatherings and celebrations (which always involve cooking), and anytime I can get away to sit by the ocean.

My journey in ministry began around the age of 25. I volunteered in the parish, working in many of the parish activities and groups. These events were the heart and soul of the parish –bringing together the parish families with food, fun and great times.
In January 1994, I joined the parish staff as secretary. During the twenty years there, I advanced from bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant to Business Manager.
In September of 2014, I was hired by the Diocese to work in the Office of Evangelization, Catechesis and Family Life, which is now the Office for Discipleship Formation, as secretary/bookkeeper.
In January, I celebrated thirty (30) years working in the Diocese of Albany.

Lisa Petrocelli's Bio
I have always felt as a Catholic, that I was “chosen” to continue building the Kingdom of God in every way possible. I have been a Catechist for over 20 years and have served on several parish committees. Prior to working for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, I was an Executive Secretary at the New York State Library, New York State Education Department. I am now the Secretary for the Office of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs and the Office for Discipleship Formation. In my free time, I edit books for a small publisher, and travel to Italy whenever possible! I live in Colonie with my husband, Dino, and we have three grown children, two girls and one boy. My favorite quote from the Bible comes from John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
