25 Years Later

Anyone who is old enough to remember, likely knows exactly where they were and what they were doing when they first heard about the 9/11 attacks. Time has passed but for many, the pain is still real.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany has created this webpage to share opportunities for people to gather together and pray for peace and healing in our nation and in the world.

Remembering the Deceased
 St. Pius X Church in Loudonville will be reading the names of all the deceased after their 12pm prayer service that day. It will continue for hours. All are welcome to join in for all or part of it.

September 10, 2026 (Thursday)

• 5pm Mass: St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York City, Archbishop Ronald Hicks has invited all bishops in New York State to concelebrate Mass with him. Bishop Mark O'Connell will attend. ***Note: this Mass is invitation & ticket only but a livestream will be available by clicking this link.

September 11, 2026 (Friday)

• 7:30am Mass: St. Joseph's, 231 2nd Ave., Scotia - Mass will be said for all who died in the attacks and for the first responders who continue to deal with health effects. 
• 8am Mass & Rosary: St. Mary's, 156 E. Main St., Amsterdam - Rosary will follow Mass.
• 8:30am Mass: St. Matthew's, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville (Annointing of the Sick Follows Mass)
• 8:30am Mass: St. Michael the Archangel, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls 
• 8:30am - 12pm Adoration: St. Mary's, 185 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa
• 8:46am Mass: St. Paul the Apostle, 2733 Albany St., Schenectady
• 8:46am Mass: Blessed Sacrament, 7 Goodman Ave., Bolton Landing - Adoration follows Mass (around 9:03am), at 9:59am there will be a Scripture reading during Adoration. Adoration ends at 10:28am with Benediction/Divine Praises.
• 8:46am, 9:03am, & 10:28am Bells Chime Taps: St. Mary's, 156 E. Main St., Amsterdam - the timing represents when the planes hit each tower of the World Trade Center and 10:28am is when both towers collapsed.
• 9am Prayer Service: Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Ave, Albany - The prayer service takes place outside by the flagpole.
• 9am Mass: Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd, Glenville
• 9am Mass: St. Joseph's, 35 Hill St., Greenwich (Mass will be held in the chapel)
• 9am Mass: St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church, 11 Wall Street, Hudson Falls

• 9am Tolling of the Bells: St. Vincent de Paul, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill - the church bell will toll 25 times to recognize the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks
• 9am Prayer Service: Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie - outside by the flag pole, back parking lot area.
• 9am Rosary: Christ Our Light, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville - each decade of the Rosary will be offered for a different group affected by the attacks.

• 11am Mass: St. Mary's, 119 Broad St., Waterford
• 11am Mass: St. Luke's, 1235 State St., Schenectady. The Mass will honor all first responders; firefighters, police officers, and medical technicians who served on that tragic day, and will remember all who died as a result of the attacks and their families.
