Diocese of Albany will no longer allow music by David Haas

August 12, 2020

Following allegations made by several women that Catholic music composer and musician David Haas engaged in inappropriate conduct with them while they were young adults, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany will no longer use compositions by Haas at diocesan Masses or other diocesan events.

A further review of this decision will be conducted following a determination regarding the allegations; Haas has denied any wrongdoing. Until then, music ministers, pastors, parish administrators, principals, and leaders of other Catholic institutions are instructed to identify alternative and other appropriate liturgical compositions.

The Diocese of Albany urges anyone who has experienced sexual abuse by a member of clergy, an employee or volunteer to contact civil authorities as well as the diocesan Assistance Coordinator at assistance.coordinator@rcda.org or by calling (518) 453-6646.
