Statement by Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger on the death of Siena President Brother Edward Coughlin

July 30, 2019

The following is a statement by Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger on the death of Siena President Brother Edward Coughlin:

From my heart, and from all of us in the Diocese of Albany, please extend my love and gratitude to Ed's family and all the friars for the gift of Ed's presence among us, even as his faith and ours assures us that it will continue in the mystical communion of all the saints united in our Risen Lord. With you we pray for Ed's safe passage to our eternal home where no tear clouds the eyes of those who in this life sought the face of God. May Ed rest in the peace of the Lord for whom he lived his life and continue to bring us all closer to the One he led us to while among us - this side of heaven.
