“Our hearts go out especially to all our brothers and sisters who find themselves in harm’s way, both here and abroad. The report of shots fired outside of Temple Israel in Albany came as the Jewish holy days of Chanukkah were about to begin. Many of our religious rituals call for the lighting of candles which inspire us to stand tall amidst the violence, confusion, and chaos around us. Together may we who worship a loving God aspire to be a light to all peoples seeking hope and consolation. Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.”
