ROMAN CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF ALBANY RELEASES DETAILS OF BISHOP MARK O’CONNELL'S INSTALLATION

Bishop Mark O’Connell will be installed as the 11th bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany on Friday, December 5, 2025.

The Mass of Installation for Bishop Mark O’Connell will begin with a procession at 1:30pm, followed by Mass at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park. A livestream will be available. That link will be provided earlier that week. 

A prayer service will be held the night before, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle St., Albany, beginning at 7 p.m. A livestream will be available https://www.youtube.com/@DioceseOfAlbany/streams. Cameras will not be allowed inside.

The Mass is expected to run about two and a half hours. The livestream will include the procession and recession, and several cameras will be placed inside the church. 

Media will be allowed to get video of Bishop Mark O’Connell after Mass as he greets attendees in a receiving line inside of a heated tent outside the church, but any media wishing to be at St. Edwards must RSVP to Kathryn.barrans@rcda.org by or before Dec. 3, 2025 in order to get onto the property, get a parking space, and get access to the receiving line after Mass.
