Consecration to Divine Mercy is a spiritual exercise through which we receive graces to strengthen our Catholic spirituality and our ability to serve Jesus and His Church. When we participate in Divine Mercy Consecration exercises, we strive to entrust ourselves completely to Christ’s Merciful Love and further enable the Holy Spirit to perform great works of Mercy through us. The graces strengthen our courage to entrust ourselves completely to God so He can change our lives and use us as a ray of His Merciful Love from His Heart to others.
Bishop Ed is inviting everyone in the diocese to join him in renewing (or for many, starting for their first time), their Divine Mercy Consecration.

For the faithful who are preparing for the Divine Mercy Consecration for the first time, Bishop Ed has chosen the book 33 Days to Merciful Love by Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC, which includes the help of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, Doctor of the Church. Some people may wish to read the book again when renewing their consecration annually. The daily reading takes only 3-5 minutes and then is pondered during the rest of one’s day. If you start the readings late or fall behind, don't worry, just catch up when you can. The 33-day preparation can be done alone or in a group.
Please take note of the following important dates:
- Tuesday, March 14, 2023: Start date of the book, 33 Days to Merciful Love
- Sunday, April 16, 2023: Join Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and via livestream for Divine Mercy Sunday Mass and our annual Consecration to Divine Mercy. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. and livestreamed to www.rcda.org/livestream.
