The Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany and Catholic Schools Office are happy to announce that Kelly Sloan, principal of St. Madeleine Sophie School in Schenectady, has been named Principal of the Year by the Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA).
“Kelly Sloan exemplifies what outstanding school leadership looks like. She is deeply student-centered, unwavering in her support of teachers, and firmly grounded in a strong Catholic identity that shapes every aspect of life at St. Madeleine Sophie School,” said Dr. Christopher Bott, Superintendent of Schools for Diocese.
Sloan has a long history with St. Madeleine Sophie School, which serves PreK through 5th Grade. She is an alumna, a teacher, a parent to three graduates, and now principal.
“She has built a community that is inclusive, innovative, and rooted in faith and care for others. This recognition from the Capital Area School Development Association is a well-deserved honor for a leader who makes a profound difference in the lives of her students and families each and every day,” added Dr. Bott.
Sloan and ten others will be honored by CASDA in their Annual Education Awards Dinner in Albany on April 30, 2026.
